fated_butterflySo work in their effort to show their support for BLM have decided they want to hang a sign about two feet by two feet in the store front window that says Black Lives Matter. Like this is shopping center where rich ppl and people whose political views I don't really want to know nor would i engage with this ppl on normal circumstances. Like my boss has gotten into it with a customer before about gay marriage ( he is gay and married) and i have had some customers say things to me that i had to ignore because I was on my job.
Now when coming back to work after they finally decided to try and open stores again here, they asked if I was comfortable> i was like well I have a couple of mask plus i wash my hands and I am not trying to get next to customers on a regular basis so now I have a legit reason. My regional manager called to the store this week being very white person guilt apologetic to me because of the horrible events that have occurred these past couple of weeks. They wanted us to post the black box on Instagram with the option of not having to. I opted out because it felt awkward and like i said we have a certain kind of clientele around here. Not all are bad but with this subject the "bad apples" are really bad. I am pretty sure we have all seen those videos online of someone being batshit crazy like the guy in McAllen,Tx swinging around a chainsaw and screaming out the N word or that cop yanking George Floyd signs out of ppl's hands a park. And I can't list alllllll the Karen videos. Now you want me to put this big ass sign in the window at the store where I ....a black female work BY MY FUCKING SELF !!!!!!!! Like wtf?! I know you want to show you're allyship but dude....Because it only takes one dickhead...we've seen that. And I didn't sign on to get harassed at my job. And I know you think hey but you're black don't you want to show support. Yes, it's why I retweet stuff, I bought charity stuff because I knew the proceeds were going to black charities, I posted the black box I need the reason behind it before the internet turned it into a bad thing. I didnt tag it because I didn't want it to look like I was tagging for a attention. I know what it is like to live in a neighborhood full of white ppl who dont like you, the uneasiness. My parents telling me what streets i could go on or what houses to avoid because those ppl were racist. With retail work you sign on for a certain about of bullshit because customers can be asses but this..that sign that is inviting possible heightenend bullshit , I did not sigh up for that.
